Residents of Ohoror community in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, are yet to come to term with an incidents involving a tricycle rider popularly called Keke and identify as Edafe Delta, (30) a native of Uwheru who lured an eleven year old girl to his house and defiled her.
Community source told SouthernVoicenews that the keke rider who usually take the girls mother to a bush market, came on the faithful day to pick the mother but she was not disposed to go to the market, but base on the trust and relationship with the keke rider, she asked him to take her daughter to her customers at the bush market to get some goods.
On their way going, Edafe stopped his tricycle, brought out his phone and showed the little girl some features and games that caught the innocent girl’s her interest. Knowing the girl is already in love with the game, Edafe then seized the opportunity using the phone as a bate and asked the girl if she would need her own phone so he he could get her one, she responded by saying yes. He then took her to his house under the guise of wanting to get money for the phone he promised her and in the process he forcefully defiled the little girl who could not struggle with him.
The little girl who was still a virgin, bled heavily and in order to cover his crime, Edafe used her undies (pant) to clean her up and warned her not to tell anyone. But on getting home, the girl inform her mother of what transpired.
The girl’s father who work in another area could not be reached because there is no telephone network where he work. The wife patiently waited for a week when her husband returned and both went to the police station to incident the matter.
Sensing trouble coming, randy Edafe started avoiding the woman as he no longer passes through that route. In order to track him down, the little girl was again used as a bate to set him up by the parents. She called him to come l and pick her to the market which he obliged and in the process, Edafe was apprehended and taken to the station.
Attack On Police:
On getting to the station, Edafe wrote his statement before he led the police to the scene of crime, but on arriving at the scene of crime, community youths around gave the police officers a strong resistance by descending on the them, beat and stabbed them and overpowered them, and broke the handcuff to allow Edafe who defiled the minor to escape.
The police was said to have send a distressed call to the Ughelli Area Command for reinforcement and immediately they mobilized officers and men and local vigilantes to the area, but before getting to the area, Edafe and some members of his gang have absconded.
As at the time of filing this report, Edafe is still on the run, but some of those that joined to beat the police officers and broke the handcuff has been arrested to the Ughelli Area Command.
