It was a moment of celebration and joy for newly promoted police officers from Delta State Police Command as the Delta State Commissioner of Police CP Ari Muhammed Ali decorated the 130 officers with their new ranks amid cheers.
The officers decorated were among of those who benefited from the recently released promotion by the Inspector General of Police IGP Alkali Baba Usman.
A total of one hundred and thirty (130) officers were promoted to their next rank, among those promoted are the Area Commander Ogwashi-Uku, ACP Obiozo Cyril Uche, promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, and Area Commander Burutu, ACP Adepegba Kolawole Adetoye also promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Also promoted is the DPO Ugborikoko Division, CSP Okon Martha Edet, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police and also decorated by the Commissioner of Police.
Other officers decorated include DSP Achem Collins Arrey, DSP Princewell Eke, DSP Akanya Agboga all of which were ASP’S prior to their promotions, the 2/IC PPRO, ASP Edna Bassey was promoted from the rank of ASP II to ASP I.
The CP who was assisted by members of his management team in his remarks noted that the promotion is part of the IGP’s way of motivating officers and men of the force. He further stated that the reward for hard work is nothing but more work, hence he urged them to be aware that, as their ranks has increased, it comes with increased responsibility.
The CP thanked IGP Usman Alkali Baba for finding his officers worthy of the promotion and urged them to be hard working as to whom much is given, much is expected.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ACP Okon Martha Edet, thanked the IGP for finding them worthy of the promotions and also assured the IGP and the CP that they will not disappoint the force, maintaining that they will brace up to the new challenges that comes with the new ranks.
