As count down to 2023 general elections, the Commissioner of Police Delta State Police Command, CP Ari Muhamed Ali, said the Police are much ready to create a peaceful environment for the conduct of the 2023 general elections slated to take place on February 25 and March 11 this year.
In press statement signed by the Command Image maker, DSP Bright Edafe, said the Commissioner made this known at a day’s workshop organized by the Command for Election Security Monitoring Committee which made up of political parties representatives, civil society groups, media practitioners and members of the public in Warri.
According to the statement, the CP said this year’s election in the state would be a very tough contest considering the interest and calibre of actors involved and therefore urged Deltans to be rest assured that the Command would not leave any stone unturned in this direction as it fully set to carry its primary responsibility of ensuring safety of lives and property during and after the elections.
The statement reads:” The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, psc+, has reaffirmed the commitment of his men and officers to the task of creating a secure environment for the successful conduct of free, fair, and credible polls across the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) come February 25th, …… urged Deltans to be rest assured that the Command would not compromise anything for its primary responsibility of ensuring safety of lives and property both during and after the elections”.
The statement said, part of the measures the Command has taken is continuous lectures and sensitizing of men and officers of the force to maintain neutrality status in the ongoing political dispensation to carry out their work effectively. The statement added that the CP Ali appealed to the residents to exercise their civic duties orderly on the days of election irrespective of political party’s affiliations and ideologies.

Part of the statement reads:”CP Ali appealed to the residents to exercise these civic duties orderly on election days, irrespective of political party’s affiliations and ideologies”.
The statement added, by this, they would have made the job of conducting successful polls easier across the state for both the security agencies and the electoral bodies saying, the level of success on the election days would be determined by the way the electorates conduct themselves.
The statement said, the CP appealed to the residents in the state irrespective of political affiliations to be orderly in order for the elections to be successful.
