…Angry Youths Beat Vigilante To Death

51 years old Mr. Fredrick Ighoshemusua, immediate past President General of Ukpiovwin Community in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State has been shot dead by a local Vigilante who was also beaten to death by angry youths in the community.
It was gathered that the incident occurred during the weekend at the swearing-in ceremony of a set of newly elected executive committee of the community.
According to sources, the Late Mr. Frederick had earlier handed over to his successor at the event which held at the community’s Secondary School.
Reliable source further narrated that Ighoshemusua tenure as President General of the community has expired and new election held before he successfully handed over to his successor. The source further disclosed that while the celebration was on, the out-gone PG left for his house, but was later sent for to join in a group photograph.
It was in the process of taking the group photograph that the vigilante member out of excitement, started shooting to the air, but that a point, his pump-action gun failed to respond. According to the source, Mr. David Power, brought the gun down and was trying to fix it when it exploded into the out-gone President General’s chest killing him on the spot.
Sensing trouble, the vigilante man hurriedly took a motorcycle to hand himself over to the police when some angry youths gave him a hot chase and brought him down at the railway line and return him back to the community before he was beaten to death.
Contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command confirmed the report.
