Six days after the abduction of Alhaji Mamman Jibrin Gurku, a First Class Emir of Gurku town of Karu Local Government Area of Nassarawa State and his wife, his abductors have allegedly demanded a ransom of 100 million naira for their release.
According to a reliable source from the area, contact has been established between the abductors and some members of the Gurku residents who are closed family members of the Emir.
The source disclosed that the kidnappers of the emir and his wife are seeking a ransome of over a hundred million naira before they can release the monarch and his wife.
The situation has left residents of the area in perpetual worries, despite the deployment of security personnel. Security operatives have been on their toes since Sunday night when the information got to them about the invasion and subsequent kidnap of the emir at around 10 pm.
Search to rescue the abducted monarch and his wife was said ti have been launched by the Nasarawa State Police Command along with the local vigilantes who are combing the hills and bushes around.
Reliable information had it that members of Gurku community were contacted and the emir’s voice was heard through a telephone call which he (emir) pleaded that the security be asked to stay away to enable his safety and that of his wife as their continuos search for him will be at his risk which may lead to killing him.
