The ruling of the Appeal Court reaffirmed the resounding victory of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewori, the governor of Delta State.
Elohor Alex Ekiugbo (JP), a leading contender for the chairmanship of the Ughelli North Local Government Council, applauded the court ruling, describing it as a victory for democracy and the citizens of Delta State.
Alex Ekiugbo, who is aspiring on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), highlighted in an interview with the Southern Voice over the phone that the ruling is a testament to the collective will of the people, who spoke loudly at the March gubernatorial poll by electing the best candidate as their governor.
He criticised the efforts of the opposition and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, whom he believed were only chasing shadows in the law courts.
Ekiugbo urged the opposition to cease the legal distraction and instead support the M.O.R.E. agenda of the governor for the overall advancement of the state.
In his words, “The ruling by the Appeal Court has been greeted with overwhelming jubilation across the state, and this is a public approval and validation of the people’s mandate ”.
Ekiugbo, a business mogul and philanthropist, emphasised that his aspiration to become the chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council is driven by a selfless desire to serve and to bring the M.O.R.E. agenda of the present administration to the grassroots.
He expressed his confidence in the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborewori and his commitment to the M.O.R.E. agenda, and .
pledged to align his plans and activities with the vision of the governor in order to ensure that the dividends of democracy are felt at the grassroots level.
Furthermore, Elohor Ekiugbo called on the people of Ughelli North Local Government Council to remain steadfast and supportive of the governor’s administration, emphasising that unity and cooperation are crucial for the actualization of the M.O.R.E. agenda. He reassured the people of his commitment to good governance, transparency, and inclusive leadership if elected as the council chairman.
In his closing remarks, Ekiugbo expressed his gratitude to the people of Ughelli North Local Government Council for their continuous support and urged them to stay committed to the ideals of democracy and progress. He also called for peaceful coexistence and urged the opposition to join hands with the government in moving the state forward.
