Chief Hon. Joseph Umudjere has emerged as the President-General of Agbarha Improvement Union AIU, and called on stakeholders to join hands with his other 14 member executive to combat crime and restore back the lost glory of the kingdom.
He made this known while fielding questions from newsmen after his swearing in, at Agbarha-Otor Community Town hall in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
According to him, “Security of lives and properties are key to growth and development of every kingdom and, my administration will ensure they work hard to block all loopholes to crime and put all measures and machineries in motion to achieve it.
“We have some agenda on before we came in which includes the security of the community is porous, and by the special grace of God, we tackle with as one of the major challenges facing the kingdom.
Secondly, We will ensure that electricity is restored back after over seven years of total blackout that has ruined the economic activities in the kingdom.
“The face lifting of our kingdom palace and construction of drainages to ease perennial flood in Agbarha-Otor township is part of our agenda, and by the grace of God, we will achieve all these.
“I am a transparent person, and the people knew me very well and having represented them twice as a Councillor, I will not fail them.”
The election which was held at the Agbarha-Otor town hall, had 40 accredited delegates with Chief Hon. Joseph Ohworo Umudjere clinching 34 votes.
On his part, the traditional ruler of Agbarha-Otor, HRM Richard Oghenevwogaga Ebelle, Okorefe I, Ovie of Agabarha-Otor Kingdom, enjoined all sons and daughters of Agbarha to join hands with the newly installed executive to move the kingdom forward.
He said, “One must not be in government before he or she should contribute to the development of a community or Kingdom. It is my plea that all should join hands with them to ensure our kingdom is moved forward.
“As the traditional ruler of Agbarha,i cannot rule the kingdom all alone, and that is why we have the office of the president general, community chairmen, peace committee and other offices and I want same support for the president and his executive.”
