A renowned youth leader and philanthropist, Prince Sony Jifas Ogbon, of the All Progressive Congress APC, in Ughelli South Local Government Area today lauded INEC for peaceful conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly polls.
He gave the commendation after casting his vote
at his Ogoni-Olomu polling unit in Olomu Ward 1, Unit 2 in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.
He said INEC had done very well, pointing out that what the electoral body had done with the BVAS was quite encouraging, even as he urged electorate to have patience with the Commission as it continued to improve on its use of technology to advance the conduct of election in the country.
He said; “Truth be said, voting materials unlike before now, arrived early to my ward and voting processes began immediately with the accreditation of voters and you can see that everything is going on peacefully in this environment”.
He appealed that despite the political differences, they still remain brothers and sisters and urged all to maintain their peaceful conduct as displayed so far.
Prince Jifas who was optimistic of his party coming out victorious, appealed to INEC to improve on the BVAS as there are some hiccups experienced in the cause of voting.
He also called on relevant authorities and bodies to ensure that the areas of delay in the commencement of voting at the various polling units is looked into and make adequate preparation before the next election.
“From what I gathered, there were delay in arrival of voting materials to some wards and units, which he is discouraging and can as well disenfranchised some eligible voters and called on the electoral body to improve”.
