Arhavwanrien Indigeneous group in the United Kingdom and United State of America, in collaboration with Arhavwarien Action Club, {AAC} Lagos and Port Harcourt, has donated relief materials worth hundreds of thousands to all flood affected communities that made up the kingdom (Arhavwarien) in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State.
The flood had ravaged several communities in Nigeria especially elta region of Nigeria.
It was a moment of relief, joy, thanksgiving to God for bringing succour to those affected by the flood in Arhavwarien community.
Men, Women and Youths were seen dancing home in appreciation to AAC/Indigenes in diaspora for support to those who are currently devastated and rendered homeless by the unfortunate flood disaster.
The relief items were distributed to all Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from the communities and items provided included foods such as breads, biscuits, noodles, rice, salt, groundnut oil as well as medications and pharmaceutical supplies and other basic household items.
AAC President (Mr. Solomon Awhariado) and Arhavwarien Indegenes in UK and US noted that the provision of these relief materials will “put a smile on our brothers and sisters faces at home and it demonstrates love to our people in times of need”.
As a mark of appreciation, HRM Solomon Akporhiere Okukren 111, Ovie OF Arhavwarien Kingdom in his remark said, “We appreciate AAC and Arhavwarien Indigenes in diaspora for standing firm with its people in time of needs. He prayed for God’s blessing for every hand that contributed to this kind gesture.
According to President “the group recognizes the devastating effect of the flood and attendant hardship on our people. “We cannot sit down at our own comfort zones and watched our people suffering.”
Commending the support of the AAC/Partners to respond to the plight of the affected communities, the entire communities affirmed the commitment of AAC and Partners irrespective of some shortcomings in the distribution process.
The entire community was overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of food items distributed to the affected victims.
Arhavwarien Chairman of Council of Chiefs (Chief David Adasen) remarks, we sincerely thanked and appreciates Arhavwarien indegenes in the UK, USA, Port-Harcourt and Lagosfor their swift action to help ameliorate the attendant hardship that may result, by providing basic needs to cushion the effects brought in by the disaster”.
In the same vein, I stand to commend AAC and Partners for these noble initiative and the called for seamless distribution advising that the relief materials get to those in dire need and affected by the flood in amidst revenue set backs, AAC sustain it’s people in time of needs
