For reasons attributed to poor network service in electronic transmission of results from polling units and wards during the November 11, 2023, governorship election in Bayelsa state, the  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will transmit the results of the elections manually.  A new vaccine, R21/Matrix-M, for the prevention of malaria in children has been recommended by the World Health Organization. The recommendation followed advice from the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization and the Malaria Policy Advisory Group and was endorsed by the WHO Director-General, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, following its regular biannual meeting held on September 25–29.
