Black Friday In Ughelli: Suspected Robbers Trail UBA Customer To Bank Premises, Allegedly Cart Away Over 15.6Million Naira, As Two Security Men, Others Sustain Gunshot Injuries
The peaceful Ughelli main Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, on Friday afternoon of July 5, 2024, was turned into a shooting range as suspected armed robbers trailed a bank customer who has come to deposit cash to the premises of a new generation bank along Isoko in Ughelli.
Eye witnessed reported that the robbers armed with sophisticated weapons came in a Gold Coloured Toyota Venza and trailed their victim to the UBA premises along Isoko road.
It was gathered that the suspects shot sporadically into the air before attacking the victim and carting away an alleged sum of N15.6million.
Witnesses say the victim was yet to entered the banking hall when the gunmen struck and made away with three sack bags popularly called ‘Ghana Must Go’ containing money.
It was gathered that the bank private security guard simply identified as Mr Saturday Paragon, a motorcycle (Okada) rider, and and woman were shot by the gunmen.
The incident led to panic as shop owners quickly lock up while vehicular movement was on hold while the operation was on along the ever busy Isoko Road in Ughelli.
A source narrated that; “The robbers came for the customer who came to make a huge deposit but before he could get into the bank, he was probably trailed and the unfortunate incident occurred.
“One of our security guard was injured and he is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital, a bank source revealed.
A spy camera that caught the suspected armed robbers indicated that they came in a gold coloured venza with one of the robbers on the passenger seat displayed an Ak-47 riffle while putting on face mask.
