President General of Oviri-Olomu Federated Communities, in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State, Olorogun John Ewenede, has called on all sons and daughters of the community to channel their energy towards the growth and development of the Oviri-Olomu.
Ewenede made this statement during the maiden General Conference held at the community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to him, “Challenges in every administration act as catalyst for one to pick up again and re-plan, hence i am calling on all sons and daughters of Oviri-Olomu at home and in diaspora to join hands with us to build and never to destroy the community.
“Despite the numerous challenges being faced by our administration, we have been able to tackle some of them and we are appealing to everyone in the community to embrace peace.
“Currently, a former President General has over 10 cases against the community in the court, but all we saying is that they should allow peace to reign so that we can live together.
On his administration success and achievements, Ewenede said, “For the period of two years and five months, we have been able to record great and significant projects through the managerial gift of God.
“The administration provided 50 job slots to Oviri-Olomu community and its impacted communities from NPDC, dredging of Urhuwarien-Atedjan stream by DESOPADEC, and the procurement, installation and commissioning of 500KVA CAT power generating plant as source of light to the entire community by NPDC,.
“Drilling of Owopele North ‘C’ Well at Igbighogho bush by NPDC, recognition and approval of Otor-Okpe as a sub community to Oviri-Olomu, and provision of over 100 solar street lights through lobbying.
“We were able to employed two ad-hoc teaching staff, a third Oviri-Olomu primary school was approved and it will be aired at Oviri-Olomu-Ovwodokpokpo road, the posting of three classroom teachers and the donation of Mathematics and English text books to Oviarien primary school and so on.
“The community leadership recovered a stolen Highlander jeep and Keke and handed over to the police and through the collaborative efforts of the police, war against cultism and criminality has been reduced to the barest minimum.
“We want to restructure our community for global recognition positively and I am calling on all sons and daughters to come back home and build an enviable Oviri-Olomu.”
