…Lauds Deputy President of Senate, Says APC Chances Brighter In Delta
BY Godwin-Maria Utuedoye,
Prior to the 2023 general elections, Secretary of the Urhobo Youth Council of Nigeria , Comrade Ovie Adarighofua has accused the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, of not giving attention to the deplorable states of roads in Delta since the past seven years of his administration.
Comrade Adarighofua who spoke to Journalists on Tuesday, Said, the state government has developed a habit of parching roads in the twilight of his administration, which he said is a guise to deceive shallow minded Deltans.
He noted that the few roads he constructed during the past seven years are substandard but with alleged huge sum voted for roads yearly in the budgets.
Comrade Adarighofua blamed the Okowa administration of living seven years of sorrow, pain and anguish, as Deltans cannot boast of any developmental achievements in terms of infrastructure, job creation or development, adding that the administration totally turned it faces from constructing roads in the dry season, but pretend to intervene in the raining season. An attitude he alleged is to fool Deltans out of his selfish ambition and quest for power.
“Let me speak for my local government of Ughelli North, just as it is in other local governments in the state. All the roads in the town are in a pitiable state, and its annoying that nothing has been done over the years. Residents have been crying for good roads, nothing is done, yet praise singers call the governor the road master. Where are the roads? Why do we call him road master?. In Ughelli town, we don’t have a single road. The road directly opposite the Ovie palace and leading to Oviri-Ogor, is in total shamble. “It will shock you if you drive through Oghenevweta street, Akpodiete Street, Adonovwe street, Afiesere road, Oveto street, Uduere Street, Awhinawhi street, Olotu street, Daniel Mukoro street, Onoharigho street, Olori road, Aro road, Isodje and many others. Both the PDP council chairman, the governor and the house of assembly member, left residents to wallow in pains all through the years, whereas they collect money for these purposes. But surprisingly, now that rains are here, he wants to parch roads now, who are you deceiving, he queried.
He said it is a pity that after filling pot holes and pouring granite, PDP facebook boys will post photograph in the internet that they have constructed roads. He described the local government chairman as someone who has no sense of development as even the road leading to his house was abandoned until recently when his principal reluctantly did what he described as haphazard repairs. The question is, will this face the test of time or is this not an avenue for Governor Okowa and his lieutenants to siphon the state resources, he question”.
Comrade Adarighofua who is also an APC youth leader, however challenged the state government to publish the financial implications of what he termed fire brigade approach for Deltans to know.
“You can’t be parching roads with the money that is enough to construct virgin roads. It is wrong, and i must say he is doing this to just buy the mind of Deltans because he knew elections are here.
Continuing he said, chances of the opposition is far brighter in the state as the Okowa led adminstration has nothing to campaign and boast about as achievement, maintaining that since 2015 till date, the Okowa led administration has been busy claiming to be road master, but in reality, he has not fixed any road that is durable, lasting and can face the test of time.
“In the past seven years, the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led administration has failed Deltans as he has deliberately deceived Deltans with the road master mantra. If you go through all the roads, they are all bad. The Agbor/Imgbiri road in his own senatorial district that gulp up huge sum of money, is today in a sorry state.
He challenged the governor to pin point any of his electoral promises to Deltans that is fulfilled as he called on Deltans to vote out the PDP come 2023 in Delta State.
He however lauded the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege representing the Delta Central, stating that he has done what a representative should do for his people. He added; “what we call infrastructure development is seen all over the places as he Senator Omo-Agege knew the pains of his people. He built schools, hospitals, light up towns, streets and villages and didn’t just limit it to the senatorial district he is representing, but extended his developmental prowess to other senatorial districts and today, the people are happy with him and clamour for his emergence as governor of the state come 2023.
He appealed to all reasonable Deltans who valued and appreciate development to vote for Senator Ovie Omo-Agege come 2023 so that he can development the state and take Delta to were it should be.
