Chief Press Secretary CPS, to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Comrade Nkem Nweke, on Thursday, called on members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm to be professional and diligent as they perform the role of informing and educating the publics daily.
Comrade Nkem Nweke stated this when he featured as a guest speaker at the Indigenous Correspondent’s Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council MIRROR platform, at the Chapels Secretariat, Asaba.
While appreciating Journalists in Delta state for their support in reporting the activities of the Delta state house of Assembly consistently, he noted that the speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Emomotimi Guwor, has become a link between the young and the old due to his dispositions and accessibility.
He further advised journalists to create opportunities for themselves in the course of their practice and refrain from attitudes that could demean them before the public and politicians as the journalism profession is noble and respected.
While reiterating the need to be ethical and professional, Comrade Nweke urged journalists to remain diligent and dedicated to their constitutional duty which includes informing, educating and entertaining the public. He appreciated the leadership of the ICC chapel for their foresight in creating such a platform to deliberate on issues that will better the society.
