…Speaks Tough On Indiscriminate Disposals Of Waste In Community

As part of measures to control and checking the excesses and abuse of hard drugs amongst youths and others, the President and Executive of Otovwodo-Ughelli Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta state, Pastor Solomon Ovigue Ugbarugba has placed a ban on the sales of all kinds of hard drugs and consumption as well as indiscriminate dumping of waste disposals on drainages and road side in the community.
Pastor Ugbarugba made the disclosure while inaugurating nine (9) different substantive committees that will assist in his administration that will give effective and quality leadership in the community.
The committees are, Education, Environment, Health, Civil Society /Human Rights, Revenue, Security, Task Force, Sports and Constitutional committees.
The Community President, during the exercise categorically stated that the sales of hard drugs and Indiscriminate dumping of waste disposal on drainages in the community and environs is strictly prohibited.
The different committees inaugurated are headed as follows; Education Committee, headed by Dr. Victor Omoraka and Mr Osawhere Aghogho as Secretary, Revenue Committee is led by Pastor Solomon Ovigue Ugbarugba and Barr. Oberhiri Adeda, as Secretary, Environmental Committee is chairman by Mr Ogbevire Udjor while Comrade Obus Adeda is Secretary.
Also, the Security Committee is headed by Hon. Victor Okpowhoro and Mr Difference Umudi as Secretary.
Other committees and their heads are, Civil Society/Human Rights Committee, Mr Luis Ishokare as Chairman and Barr. M. S. Akubowe, Secretary, Health Committee, Dr. Emmanuel Egboduku and Dr. Newton Asaboro, Sport Committee, Sir James Atie; Chairman and Mr Oke Adutomare; Secretary, Constitution Amendment Committee, Barr. Happy Oharisi; Chairman and Barr. Oberhirhi Adeda, Secretary, and Tasks Force Committee, Mr Ovoka Solomon, Chairman and Oghenekevwe Kpefe Iyete; Secretary.
According to Ugbarugba “The newly constituted committee members must shun illegal activities and work in consonance with the Delta State laws and the Nigeria constitution.
He said, “Otovwodo is no longer a small community but an urban community, that is linked to other communities and it will be too cumbersome for the central executive members alone to effectively governed.
“The needs for these committees inaugurated today, is to share our responsibilities for effective leadership in Otovwodo Community.
“The Ovie of the Great Ughelli kingdom and the people of Otovwodo Community are aware and approve of it”.
Responding on behalf of the committee members, Olorogun (Mrs) Beatrice Olori said; “This is a welcome development and I must commend the community leadership, I think it is a way forward.
Meanwhile, the mandate for the Security and Environmental Committees is the banned on indiscriminate dumping of waste disposal on the highways, drainages and the sales and consumption of hard drugs in the community.
“Dumping of wastes on highways and drainages, sales and consumption of hard drugs are highly prohibited in the community. Anyone involve or caught shall be arrested and handed over to the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, and be dealt with precisely”
