Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, presented cheques of Forty-Seven Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty-Seven Thousand, Five Hundred and Twenty-Nine Naira (#47,827,529) to twenty-two families of deceased officers who died while in active service.Â
According to a statement made available by the Force Public Relations Officer, SP. Bright Edafe, the cheques were issued to the next of kin of seven deceased officers on behalf of the IGP as part of the IGP Family Welfare Scheme, Group Life Assurance, and Group Personal Accident Insurance Schemes.Â
The CP who was assisted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration, DCP Tokunbo Afolabi, while presenting the cheques noted, that the welfare of both serving and late officers is one of the interest of the Inspector General of Police, adding that it’s on his behalf that the cheques were presented to families.
The CP appreciated the gesture of the IGP as the cheques will in no small way serves as a boost to the families and also a way of letting them know that though their loved ones are no more, the Force did not forget their sacrifices. Â
One of the beneficiaries thanked the IGP for his magnanimity noting that the money given to them will be used judiciously.
