The monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Delta State which normally holds every last Saturday of every month has been scheduled to hold tomorrow, Saturday, December 18, 2021 between the hours of 7.00 am and 10.00 am. This exercise is holding before the last Saturday of the month due to the yuletide coming up next week.
A statement signed by the Director of Information, Mrs Theresa Oliko and made available to newsmen, said during the period of the exercise, there will be NO restrictions on movements of persons and vehicles.
The statement advised residents to fumigate their premises, cut overgrown weeds, desilt drainages and keep the environment clean to prevent unwanted diseases, especially Lassa Fever.
The state Commissioner for Environment and staff of the Ministry of Environment, Taskforce on Environment and other relevant authorities, the statement further notes, will monitor the clean-up exercise, while officials of the Delta State Waste Management Board and local government councils are to evacuate the resultant refuse to approved dump sites.
It enjoined Deltans and residents in the state, to note that in this period of COVID-19, they observe washing of hands regularly with running tap and soap, sanitize as much as possible and maintain physical distancing.
