…Says Its An Act Of Economic Sabotage
The Deputy Chief Whip and Member Representing Warri North in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Alfred Martins has strongly condemned the act of economic sabotage that occurred at the NNPCL/Chevron Oil facility at the Dibi Abiteye Flow Station in the Constituency.
Hon Martins in a statement made available to newsmen in Koko, headquarters of the local government council, said he was shocked to hear of the ugly incident and deeply saddened by the development.
The Lawmaker who doubles as the Chairman House Committee on Lands, Survey and Urban Development, said act of vandalism of oil pipelines is a great threat to the nation’s economic stability.
He called for thorough investigations into the incident, even as he appealed to the locals to help government and security agencies fish out the vandals.
He said, “I am deeply saddened and outraged by the vandalism of the NNPCL/Chevron Oil facility at the Dibi Abiteye Flow Station in Warri North Local Government Area.
“This act of economic sabotage not only threatens the economic stability of our nation but also puts the lives of our people at risk.
“As the representative of Warri North, I urge the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We must work together to protect our nation’s resources and ensure that such incidents do not recur”, Hon Martins said.
The Lawmaker commiserated with constituents who may have been affected by the incident and assured them that government will do everything in its power to prevent such incidents in the future.
It will be recalled that the Delta State Government had issued a statement on the sad incident and assured that Government at all levels in collaboration with security agencies and Tantita Security services shall fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book.
The statement signed by the Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, Secretary to the State Government reads, “The Delta State Government received the sad news of an act of economic sabotage in the vandalism of the NNPCL/Chevron Oil facility – the Dibi Abiteye Flow Station in Warri North Local Government Area on Saturday, 23rd November, 2024.
“Government at all levels in collaboration with security agencies and Tantita Security services shall fish-out the perpetrators and bring them to book.
“Government reassures Chevron Nigeria Limited and other oil operating companies of our continuous support and commitment to their successful operation in Delta State. We also solicit the support of host communities in identifying and clamping down on the offenders.
“The State government shall not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone or group of persons/criminals who are out to sabotage government’s resolve to sustain the current tempo of oil exploration in the state.
