Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on projects, Engr. Dr Goodnews Agbi, on Thursday February 29, during the inspection of some projects across the state, commended the high level and quality of jobs done by Obakpo Engineering Limited, an indigenous construction contractor owned by Delta foremost politician, Olorogun John Oguma, the Udu of Olomu Kingdom.
Dr. Agbi gave the commendation when he visited the Orere-Ovu bridge construction at in Ughelli South local government area as well as Ore road from Isoko junction in Ughelli North L.GA, and Edo road from Isoko road to Agbarha-Otor.
Dr. Agbi who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary Directorate of Project Monitoring and Audit, Mrs Esejo, Chief Francis Ighoraye (EA), Sir Boniface Imodje (SSA), Pastor Ken Otuya(SSA) Engr Yebu Ladina, Odio Odafe (SA), was impressed with the construction and the high level of supervision.
In his remarks, Olorogun John Oguma, Chairman, Obakpo Engineering Limited disclosed that all supervision and construction work on the bridge was being carried out by Nigerian indigenous engineers and specialists.
Engr. Agbi and his team were so excited that indigenous contractor could build a fantastic parabolic bridge with perfect abutments, peers and the precast beams.
He said; “If Nigerian contractors, Nigeria consultants and engineers can perform this feat, Nigeria is on the part of greatness”.
He said with the MORE AGENDA of the Governor, “every indigenous contractor should strive to put up its best to align with the MORE Agenda of the Governor. Every Civil Engineering student should try to visit the Orere-Ovu Bridge and see what an indigenous Engineering company, Obakpo Engineering has achieved”.
Agbi also visited two other roads projects, Edo Road and Ore road from Isoko road where the contractor, Obakpo Engineering was seen busy working with the same high level of supervision.
Dr Agbi also commended the contractor for his aggressive presence in all three sites visited as work is ongoing simultaneously without challenge.
