The Delta State Police Command has said its Cracked Surveillance Team on February 1, 2022, arrested one Larry Onifon, ‘m’ 24, at a black spot in Okwuchi Quarters in Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area.
In a release made available to SouthernVoicenews, Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Bright Edafe disclosed that base on intelligence, the Surveillance Team raided the area at about 0900hrs.
The statement read that the suspect who claimed to be a fashion designer was arrested in the drug neighbuorhood while other suspects took escaped. It went further to note that; Forty (40) packets of 100mg Tramadol, eighty-nine (89) wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, four (4) sachets of Swinol, three (3) containers of Loud, fifty-five (55) wraps of substances suspected to be cocaine were recovered from them.
The statement revealed that the suspect Larry Onifon in statement confessed that the cartel popularly called “OBJ cartel” is owned by one of the fleeing suspects called OBJ.
The suspect, Larry Onifon is in custody while manhunt for the other fleeing suspects is ongoing.
Similarly, on the 31/01/2022 at about 2100hrs, the Command Raider’s Operatives raided a criminal hideout at Agbor, Delta State, during which twenty-five (25) male suspected cultists were arrested. Some of the suspects has confessed to be members of Black Axe Confraternity and Junior Supreme Aiye Confraternity, but investigation is currently ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali, has appreciated officers and men for their tireless efforts in the fight against crime and criminality. He has however enjoined them to be alive to their responsibilities and discharge their duties effectively and thanked members of the public and other stakeholders for their continuous support and partnership with the Command and assured all of the Command preparedness in tackling crime.
