…Embarks On Discrete Stop And Search Across State
In its determination to combat all forms of insecurity and crime in the state during the ember months, particularly the reported incidences of kidnapping in the state, the Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Wale Abass on Monday, September 18, 2023 issued a ban on tinted glasses and covered plate numbers in vehicles as one of the measures and strategies to nip those hiding under such to perpetuate crime.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Commands Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe and made available to crime reporters.
The Commissioner also gave a stern warning to all officers and operatives in the command on the need to be proactive in the discharge of their assigned duties and responsibilities in order not to be taken unaware.
CP Abass, further charged all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Heads, and Tactical Commanders to double their efforts in the fight against crime in their areas and the state.
While seeking the cooperation and understanding of members of the public, the CP urged them to bear with the command as these measures being enforced is in their ultimate interest, but admitted the slight discomfort it may cause residents, particularly road users.
Adding that due to the activities of criminal elements who carry out their nefarious activities using tinted vehicles and sometimes covered plate numbers, the CP has directed that all vehicles plying the road in the state must be duly registered with their plate numbers visible as all unregistered vehicles and vehicles with covered plate numbers will be impounded.
He also stated that tinted vehicles will no longer be allowed in the state, hence residents using vehicles with tinted glasses are advised to peel such off.
In his plea, the CP seeks for the understanding, noting that what the force is doing is for the collective good of the public. He further entreats the general public to report any frightful or suspicious occurrences to the nearest police station or call any of the following; 08036684974; 08125958005; 09053872287 (CONTROL ROOM) 09155570007; 09155570008 (PPRO OFFICE)
