The Delta State Police command has arrested two suspected serial car snatchers that killed a cab driver on December 15, 2024 along the Warri-Sapele road by Aziza junction.
SP. Bright Edafe, Public Relations Officer to the Delta state police command, in a press release disclosed that the suspects, Junior Emmanuel ‘m’ (33) and Julius Samuel ‘m’ (28) confessed to the crime.
According to the release, the suspects invited a cab man to take them to a particular bar at Osubi alongside a call girl they picked earlier at the front of Shoprite. The cab man was again instructed to take them to Aziza junction in Warri Sapele road, and on their way, one of the suspects brought out a rope from his pocket and use it to strangle the driver while he was on motion, while the girl was beaten and asked to bend her face down.
SP. Edafe, further stated that after killing the driver, they dragged his corpse down and abandoned the girl in the bush.
Meanwhile, on December 26, 2024, the same syndicate also attacked another cab driver in Benin, but the cab driver escaped abandoning the vehicle with them. The syndicate on January 2, 2025, took the second car stolen in Benin to scrap yard in Warri for sale, but the scrap dealers who suspected the vehicle called the DPO Ekpan, who came and arrested them. The two vehicles have been recovered from them.
Similarly, the police at Ekpan has arrested a syndicate that operates with Tricycle (Keke) at night to rob their unsuspecting passengers, on receiving the information about their activities, the DPO of Ekpan Division CSP Shaba, detailed operatives attached to Ekpan Division to go all out and ensure that the suspects are arrested, and intelligence paid off on January 3, 2025, when two suspects; Osio Emmanuel Nyerohwo ‘m’ (28), and Sabiu Adamu ‘m’ (26) were arrested at Warri Sapele road in Uvwie LGA and recovered two locally made guns, thirteen live cartridges, Nine mobile phones, and their operational tricycle were recovered. The suspects are in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
SP. Edafe also disclosed the arrest of a self kidnapped and suspected fraudster, Smart Amanda ‘f’ (40), that faked her kidnapped.
According to the release, on 11/11/2024, at about 1100hours, a complainant (name withheld) reported that one Smart Amanda ‘f’ (40), who he met on facebook was on her to visit in Ekpan and was kidnapped along Agbarho road and later he got a call from one faith Oghenejabor that her friend Smart Amanda who was coming to see him has been kidnapped and the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of Fifteen Million Naira (#15,000,000).
The friend called the next day stating that they had gotten a huge part of the money and its remaining one hundred and fifty thousand naira to complete the money. After the release of Smart Amanda, her friend Faith continued to call and extort money from him and that she collected a total of one million Nine hundred and fifty thousand naira from him.
The DPO Ekpan detailed operatives who embarked on an intelligence investigation and arrested Faith Oghenejabor. The investigation later revealed that Faith Oghenejabor, is the same person as Smart Amanda. Suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing.
