The New Delta State Sports Commission Chairman, Mr. Onoriode Joshua Oborevwori said the welfare of athletes and quality infrastructural facilities will be top of his agenda as he will want the Delta State Sports industry to continue to maintain the number one spot in sporting activities in the country.
Mr. Onoriode disclosed this to journalists immediately after his swearing in and Inauguration as the Delta State Sports Commission Board Chairmen, by His Excellency Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Oborevwori at the government house unity hall in Asaba the State Capital.
” for Delta State to continue to maintain the number one spot, in sporting activities in Nigeria, we will ensure the welfare of athletes and Staffs is not taking for granted, and we will also improve on the quality of our infrastructural facilities across the 25 Local Government Areas “
Mr. Oborevwori who is a formal football player in Shell FC All Stars Warri, and the immediate past Chairman, Technical Sub- Committee in the just concluded successful 8th National Youths Games in Delta State, said he was happy that the State own Warri Wolves football club is now in the National Football League, and the Sports Commission under his Leadership, will ensure that Warri Wolves management is given all the necessary support and logistics to motivate and galvanize the team to achieve promotion into the Nigerian Premier League.
The Commission Board Chairmen added that , his goal is to work with a group of Professionals that are resourceful, goal getter, and target driven for the overall development of sports in the state, while assuring Deltans that his team in the Commission Board are well grafted to deliver the goals of the M. O. R. E. Agenda of His Excellency Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Oborevwori in Delta State Sports, which is to create the enabling environment that would accelerate the growth and development of sports across the state.
The newly constituted board includes Onoriode Joshua Oborevwori as chairman, alongside Sam Sodje, Herrita Ehiabor, and Oghale Ofremu as members.
