Negative reactions has continue to trail Governor Ifeanyi Okowa constitution of the Delta State Oil Producing and Development Commission DESOPADEC, just six days to exit of office as governor.
It is also been alleged that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa whose tenure expires May 29, 2023, has also imposed majority of his cronies and kinsmen on the Governor-Elect, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
A cross section of Deltans who expressed disapproval of the governors action, questioned his interest when his tenure is almost over but yet reconstituting the DESOPADEC Board. His actions were frowned at and condemned, as they stated that it shows clearly that the choice of people to work with by the incoming governor may never be the choice of the outgoing governor.
Following the reconstitution of the board today, Tuesday, May 23, a cross section of clergymen and Civil Society Organizations who were not also pleased with the actions of Gov. Okowa, questioned the rational behind the constitution ahead of an incoming governor if there are no other sinister motive.
They alleged that the outgoing governor will use the incoming governor like a stooge and dictate how he will run the government of Delta State, but called on Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to stand his ground as he was not voted to act the script of a man who have govern the state for eight years.
“We do not have problem with the constitution of the board, but what we are saying is that, he should have allowed the incoming governor to do the constitution of the board.
“As you can see, those he appointed, most of them are his cronies. What about the incoming, does it mean he has no one fit to be in the board, they added”.
