The Delta State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation into a distressing case involving the proprietor of Great Leaders International School, Mr. Innocent Ezeukwu.
The incident, which has gained widespread attention through social media, centers around the alleged defilement and indecent assault of a 4-year-old child.
On October 5, 2023, at approximately 1700 hours, Mrs. Joy Chukwudi reported an alarming incident to the authorities. She conveyed that while bathing her 4-year-old daughter, she discovered a bloodstain in the child’s private area. Her daughter, when questioned, repeatedly claimed that “her uncle used school scissors to cut her on her private part.”
Responding promptly to this distressing complaint, the Area Commander in Agbor assembled a team of investigators to visit the scene of the alleged crime.
The suspect, Innocent Ezeukwu, who serves as both the school’s owner and its sole male teacher, was taken into custody. The initial investigation led to the issuance of a medical report, and an identification parade exercise was initiated.
During the identification parade, the victim positively identified Innocent Ezeukwu as the alleged perpetrator. The medical report verified the absence of a hymen in the victim’s private area.
Despite the Area Command in Agbor concluding its investigation and filing charges in court, the Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Wale Abass, has ordered the case to be withdrawn from the court and promptly transferred to the State Criminal and Investigation Department (SCID) for a more extensive and meticulous examination.
CP Wale Abass has assured the public and the victim’s family that justice will be served in this case. He urges the public to remain patient and composed as the investigation progresses.
The Delta State Police Command is steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the rights and well-being of all citizens, with a particular focus on children. Further updates on the investigation will be provided as they become available.
