Dr. Peter Adogbejire Mrakpor, SAN was born on September 7, 1965 to the family of Late Hon. Chief James Mrakpor (JP), and Dr. (Mrs.) E. Mrakpor (JP), of Edjophe in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
He spent his formative years as a child growing in Edo State. His most fascinating childhood moments were lessons of philanthropy and empathy for humanity that his father taught by practically treating the poor for free, paying tuition for thousands of school children, supporting hundreds of local farmers and traders with their businesses and so much more.
The legal icon attended Ogbe Primary School, Benin City, Edo State between 1971 and 1976 where he obtained his Primary School Leaving Certificate in 1976, and later proceeded to the famous Urhobo College, Effurun in 1976 from where he obtained his West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) Ordinary Certificate in 1981 and later went to Iguobazuwa Grammar School, Edo State 1982 and 1983 respectively.
Yet again, his exceptional academic and personal performances earned him the leadership position and Testimonial which acknowledged him of being responsible, hardworking, dedicated to studies and a diligent student.
He holds an LLB in Law from the University of Benin, before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School, Lagos. After completion, he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1989 as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He has being in Legal practice for over 25 years with professional distinctions.
He started legal practice in Lagos, in 1990 as a Solicitor and Advocate in the Chambers of M.P. Ohwovoriole, SAN (1990-1992) having previously completed his compulsory one year National Youth Service in Enugu State where he successfully served in the Chambers of P.O. Nwankoby & Co, as a Solicitor and Advocate. Peter Mrakpor Esq. also worked in the following Law firms; Wale Ajiboye & Co (1992 – 1993) as Solicitor and Advocate and Head of Chambers, Senior Partner at Mrakpor & Oju (1993 – 1999) and Senior Partner at Crest solicitors (1999 – 2007).
He worked as a Company Secretary with Crownrise Finance & Investments Limited (1994 -1998) and Baba Agbo Group of Companies (1996 – 2002) respectively.
Through shear determination and doggedness he excelled in vital modules as the Managing Director of Crest Bridge Nigeria Limited and was engaged in the acquisitions, development and disposal of residential estates, leases and portfolio management as well as educational consultants/agents for the University of the West of England, Bristol, Uk.
The success of Dr. Peter’s advocacy to end Women’s and Girl-Child trafficking created a vacuum in many ladies hearts through his enlightenment and sensitization campaigns in an attempt to reposition Delta State.
Interesting enough, Peter’s becoming an expert in Law didn’t quench his innermost desire to serve God in faith, and to help marginalized communities to connect with the government for self-development opportunities and to create a meaningful legacy.
This drove him to become a Social Entrepreneur and in leaving no knowledge stone unturned as he trained and enrolled youths on Social Entrepreneurship Programs through his MERCYGATE FOUNDATION.
He is a Bible Scholar with a Certificate in Theology and Leadership Development. He is dedicated to the teachings of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is also a farmer and was the CEO of MercyGate Christian Leadership Institute and BookHouse Publishing Enterprise, publishers of Prospect Magazine.
His hard work birthed him to be appointed by His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa as the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice on September 22, 2015.
Peter A. Mrakpor Esq., as Senior Partner in the Chambers of Peter Mrakpor Esq., has rendered to his numerous clients several legal opinions and conducted several cases involving Civil Litigation, Criminal and Commercial Law practice in the High Court of several States in Nigeria, Federal High Courts, Election Petition Tribunals, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
While Dr. Peter loves traveling to new places, meeting people, reading and watching documentaries; he enjoys nothing more than every moment spent parenting his three wonderful daughters.
