…Visit Oshimili North, Ika North East With Assurance Of Projects Completion By State Government
Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Special Projects has reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to completing all ongoing road infrastructure across the State.
Chairman of the committee, Hon Oboro Preyor gave the assurance during oversight visits by members of the Committee to sites of some ongoing roads construction embarked upon by the state government in Oshimili North and Ika North East local government areas.
According to Hon Preyor, the Monday, 7th October 2024 movement, wrapped up the first phase of projects inspection by the Committee across the three senatorial district of the state.
The Lawmaker who represents Bomadi Constituency in the Hallowed Chamber, said the 8th Delta Assembly, led by Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor was not relenting in its efforts at ensuring that the dividends of democracy gets deeper to the grassroots.
Flanked by Hon Emmanuel Sinebe, Edafe Emakpor, Ferguson Onwo, James Augoye and Ebitonmo Alapala, the Committee Chairman said the three weeks oversight inspection of ongoing projects in the State, was a booster to ensuring standards, accountability and timely completion of the projects.
He commended the renewed efforts by the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to completing the projects and pledged the support of the Committee in that regard.
Preyor and his team inspected some roads rehabilitation and expansion as well as water discharge channel in Okpanam, Oshimili North and construction of drains at Owa-Alero and its environs in Ika North East.
He assured that the constitutional mandate of the Legislature to ensuring adequate budgetary allocations to the ongoing projects and their effective implementation would remain a top priority.
Preyor expressed satisfaction with level of work done so far on projects visited, adding that as lawmakers, it was a duty to ensure Deltans get requisite value for government’s expenditure on developmental projects.
He maintained that Governor Oborevwori’s More Agenda is spreading across the three senatorial district, even as he disclosed that the first phase of the oversight inspection visit took members of the Committee to 21 projects sites in the state.
Hon Preyor stressed that the exercise will go a long way to help the Committee and the State Legislature make informed decision during the 2025 budget presentation and defense.
The Lawmaker urged Deltans and residents in the state to continue to support the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori in the actualization of his campaign promises.
At the construction of drainage channel in Owa-Alero, Hon Preyor commended the contractor and the consultant for working in line with approved designs and specifications and urged them to speed up its completion.
The Committee Chairman however called on the contracting firm handling the construction of discharge channel in Okpanam to return to site and complete the remaining part of the job.
Hon Preyor said the Committee will come up with a comprehensive report on the inspected projects for more actions.
Other members of the Committee who spoke expressed confidence that the oversight visits would help progress speed of work on the various projects for their timely completion.
