Chairman, Delta State House of Assembly committee on information, Hon (Engr) Emeka Nwaobi has sought stronger collaboration with the media in driving the legislative vision, mission and agenda of the 8th Delta Assembly.
Hon Nwaobi who gave the charge during an interface with Assembly Correspondents, hinted that the 8th Assembly is poised at ensuring drastic and positive legislative transformation.
To drive the process, Nwaobi who represents Aniocha North Constituency and Majority Leader of the House, said the House is set to strengthen its collaboration with relevant stakeholders, particularly the media.
The Lawmaker however, charged practitioners to continue to uphold professional integrity by ensuring balanced and robust reportage.
His words; “We, (the 8th Assembly) are committed to taking the State legislature to another level.
“We are already known as the most vibrant House of Assembly in the country. As Chairman, House committee on information, I am set to collaborate with you, the media to ensure that everything we do as legislators is well publicised.
“My doors would be opened to everyone as I will be glad to welcome ideas that would help us drive our vision.
“I do hope that in all sincerity, we embrace the collaboration that I seek and that as a group, we succeed. I wish to admonish you that as professionals, you balance your reportage.
“We should be ready to work towards taking the 8th Assembly to its desired destination through proper and effective information dissemination” Nwaobi said.
Speaking further, the Majority Leader commended the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor for the choice of Nkem Nwaeke as his Chief Press Secretary.
He described Nwaeke as an astute professional who has been very useful in reporting activities of the State Assembly.
Earlier, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke who led the delegation to the majority leader’s office commended him for the proposed innovation, adding that the press, particularly the House of Assembly correspondents had long yearned for such interface.
Mr. Nwaeke also, used the forum to appeal to the House Committee chairman on information to always carry the media along in the activities of the House.
In his remark, The Pointer Correspondent in the State House of Assembly, Mr. Andrew Ikehi commended the Majority Leader for the interface just as he pledged the media’s readiness for enhanced, balanced and robust reportage.
