Federal Poly, Orogun Gets Pioneer Rector
The appointment of Okoro as the pioneer Rector of the institution was duly considered and approved by Mr. President, and this has paved way for smooth kick-off of the Polytechnic, situated in Orogun, Delta State.
Senior prefect of the school, Master Samuel Oghenegare, while speaking to newsmen on Friday, November 25, decried the poor staffing situation of the secondary school, disclosing that the staff strength of the school is less than five teachers.
Addressing the staff and pupils on his mission to the school, Hon. Umukoro said his desire to embark on donating the books to pupils is borne out of the fact that education is the bedrock of any nation and as such, he felt no child should be denied the opportunity of acquiring sound education just because of his or her parental background. He however urged the pupils to be good children who will better the society in future, noting that education is a light that can drive away ignorance, timidity and poverty.
His efforts according to him, is to compliment the good work of the state governor, Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, who has prioritize education among others and establishing 22 new Primary and Secondary Schools in the state.
“The Federal Government cannot tell us that they don’t have money to pay ASUU to resolve all of these issues. There is money in our country, we shouldn’t deceive ourselves about that. Education should not even be a sector to toy with. We must be careful with what we do, we have more challenges in our hand and should not add pressure on parents and children who are the actual victims of this strike.
