Foremost Niger Delta group, Federated Movement Of Urhobo Youth Leaders (FMUYL) has commended the Nigerian Senate for the confirmation of Barr. Chiedu Ebie as the board chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The Senate has on Wednesday, October 5, confirmed nominees for appointment into the board and management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
In a statement made available by the Coordinator of the group, Prince Sonny Jifas Ogbon, JP, the group said, Ebie’s merit has overruled sentiments as he is so qualified and understood the terrain more than any.
They thanked the Senate for the timely confirmation, noting that it will enables the board act fast in the development of the region that has suffered decay in terms of infrastructures and development.
The group also praised on President Bola Tinubu for the appointment of someone with vast experience, and a technocrat like Chiedu Ebie as the new chairman of the commission. They also commend the president for also retaining Samuel Ogbuku as the Managing Director and as well appointing other notable sons and daughters of the region.
They said for the first time, a true son of the Niger Delta region who is very conversant with the enormous challenges being experienced in the oil-producing states and has a proven track record has been appointed to chair the board.
“We the leaders and members of the Federated Movement Of Urhobo Youth Leaders (FMUYL) are so happy with the appointment of the board chairman, and we believe in his ability, capacity, exposure and determination in tackling the challenges that has bedeviled the region over the years.
“We want to particularly thanked the President of Nigeria for appointing Chiedu Ebie, a man of a proven integrity and the requisite knowledge about the region as the board chairman of NDDC”.
The group appeals to all indigenes of the region irrespective of political party affiliations to join hand with him and other members of the board to succeed in lifting the region from neglect and abandonment.
The group pledged their unalloyed support to the chairman of the board and all members and promised their cooperation in all their dealings and programmers that will benefit the region.
The nominees confirmed by the Red Chamber after their screening by the committee include Chiedu Ebie – NDDC Board Chairman (Delta State); Dr. Samuel Ogbuku – Managing Director/CEO (Bayelsa); Boma Iyaye – Executive Director, Finance and Admin (Rivers); Victor Antai – Executive Director, Projects (Akwa-Ibom); Ifedayo Abegunde – Executive Director, Corporate Services (Ondo), and Senator Dimaro Denyanbofa–State Representative (Bayelsa).
Othere include Abasi Ndikan Nkono – State Representative (Akwa Ibom); Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya – State Representative (Delta); Tony Okocha – State Representative (Rivers); Hon. Patrick Aisowieren – State Representative (Edo); Kyrian Uchegbu – State Representative (Imo); Victor Kolade Akinjo – State Representative (Ondo), Dimgba Eruba – State Representative (Abia), and Asu Oku Okang – State Representative (Cross River)
Also, confirmed are Hon. Nick Wende – Zonal Representative (North-Central); Hon. Namdas Abdulrazak – Zonal Representative (North-East), and Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir – Zonal Representative (North West)
