In order to avert the impending flood as announced by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency, Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Chief. Eugene Inoaghan, has embarked on opening of drainages around Econet Road in Okwovwori Community to allow free flow of water in the area.
It could be recalled that members of Okwovwori community have cried out to the Local Government Chairman and leaders of the community after many were sacked by flood from their various homes and place of businesses.
The Commissioner Representing Sapele, Okpe and Ethiope West in the board of DESOPADEC, Chief Julius Egbedi and the House of Assembly Member in Sapele, Hon. Perkins Umukoro were also on ground to see the level of work done in Okwovwori community.
A resident in Okwovwori community, Mr Simeon Egigba while speaking to journalists applauded the local government chairman for his quick intervention. “This is a welcome development and I thank the local government chairman for the quick intervention. Before now we are suffering as flood has sacked many from their homes but I want to thank the local government chairman for remembering us,” he said.
Mr James Emaweyan however appreciated the effort of the Local Government Chairman while insisting that for some years now this part of the community has been suffering from flood.
Sanitarian Gabriel Egbeta, Assistant Director, Department of Environment, Sapele LGA along side Mr James Emaweyan, Kingsley Emaweyan, Mr kefe Iboyi, Egigba Simeon, Mr Lucky Orlando, Elder Bendel Odebala, Emakpor Egigba, Mr Ealefoh George, Arthur Oghoro,
were also on ground.
