…Calls For Inclusiveness
A group under the guise of Southern Kaduna Renewed Hope Movement of Nigeria has alleged the exclusion of Southern Kaduna indigenes from federal and state appointments in 8 years.
The group, In a press conference in Kaduna, also alleged that the Southern Kaduna region of the state experienced severe marginalisation in political and religious spheres for eight years under the All Progressive Congress (APC), led administration of Governor Nasir El-rufai, describing the non-inclusion of Southern Kaduna indigenes in governance as marginalisation.
The national coordinator of the group, Yusuf Kanhu who spoke on behalf of the group urged Governor Uba Sani to ensure fairness for both Christians and Muslims in Southern Kaduna.
“The last eight years, the Southern Kaduna region experienced severe marginalisation, both in political and religious spheres, particularly since the rise of the APC. Under the previous administration of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, a significant disparity emerged in political appointments and campaigns, leading to an imbalanced representation of the region.
“The introduction of the Muslim-Muslim ticket further deepened this divide, relegating the Christians and Muslims of Southern Kaduna to deputy positions or roles of lesser influence.
“We call on the Kaduna State government to address the grievances of the Southern region and take immediate steps to rectify this continuous marginalisation. We demand fair representation in governance, equitable distribution of resources and improved security measures in Southern Kaduna.
“We also call on the federal government and all well-meaning Nigerians to join us in our quest for justice, equality and progress. Together, we can build a Kaduna State that truly celebrates and harnesses the strengths and diversity of all its people”, they added.
They also called for the equitable distribution of ministerial appointments to the South, adding “If a Christian ministerial appointment is not viable, we propose the appointment of Dr Abdulmalik Durunguwa, an esteemed son of Southern Kaduna”, they added.
