Â
While wishing the Catholic Christian family a fruitful lent period, Rt Hon Guwor, noted that it was not a mere coincidence that today also, marks Valentine’s Day, which centers on the celebration of love.
Â
The Speaker charged Deltans and, indeed Nigerians to use the period to extend genuine and Christ-like love among one another.
Guwor, while acknowledging that the country is going through horrible economic and security challenges at the moment, expressed optimism that with corporate prayers from concerned Nigerians, particularly during this lent period, God would, in His Mercy vindicate the country.
Â
The Speaker enjoined Nigerians to keep hope alive stressing that “At the end of the tunnel, there is a silver lining”
Â
He stressed the need for Nigerians to continue to uphold the virtues of holiness and Godly living, even as he advised against all forms of criminality and unholy behaviours.
Â
“As the lent season begins today, I wish to sincerely felicitate with our Christian brothers and sisters in Delta State and beyond.
Â
“This period, by the Christian calendar is a moment of sober reflection. It is a moment that we need to intensify our work and walk with God.Â
Â
“As we observe this lent period, I wish to advise that we leverage on it to intervene earnestly in prayers for the State and the nation at large.
Â
“There is no doubt that the nation is going through turbulent times in terms of the growing harsh economy. This should also, form part of our prayers as we observe the lent season ” Guwor said.
