Delta State House of Assembly, Tuesday, screened and confirmed the appointments of three nominees forwarded to it by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
They include, Sir Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje, immediate past Permanent Secretary, Government House, as Chairman, Delta State Bureau for Pensions,
Olorogun Jude Oghenewaire Emurotu as a Member of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, and Mr Ifeanyi Egwuyenga as Chief Job and Wealth Creation Officer, Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau.
The nominees who appeared separately at plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, were introduced for the screening exercise by members representing their various constituencies in the Hallowed Chamber.
During the screening, Lawmakers posed questions at the nominees on how they intend to justify the positions for which they were nominated in the interest of the State.
The Speaker, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor approved the confirmation of the appointments following their successful screening in line with the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Majority Leader Hon Emeka Nwaobi in separate motions moved for individual confirmations of the appointments which were unanimously adopted through voice votes by the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor.
While congratulating the appointees for their confirmation by the State Assembly, the Speaker charged them not to jeopardize the confidence reposed on them by the State Governor to serve.
He urged them to strive to adding values to the MORE mantra of the Oborevwori’s administration in the state.
Also at plenary, a bill for a Law to amend the Delta State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency Law 2015 scaled first reading on the floor of the house.
Motion for the first reading was moved by the Majority Leader, Hon Emeka Nwaobi and seconded by the member representing Ndokwa West Constituency, Hon Charles Emetulu.
