The police in Delta State have arrested two armed robbery suspects and recovers one double barrel pistol, a cut to size double barrel short gun and as well raided a black spot were two drug dealers were arrested with large quantity of substances suspected yi be Indian hemp.
In a statement made available by the commands spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed that on September 5, 2022 at about 1125hrs, operatives attached to Eagle-Net Special Squad while on visibility patrol along Issele-Azagba/Ogwashi-Uku road, acting on credible information intercepted a tricycle (Keke) with Delta State Commercial colour Reg. No. AWK 941 QC and tag No. DT/CT/10550B driven by one Anthony Onyekaba ‘m’ of No. 223 Asei Quarters Azagba Ogwashi-Uku with four occupants.
He said after a thorough search, one Eze Paul ‘m’ 27yrs of Okofia and Henry Dukkwu of Ugbetiti ‘m’ 28yrs both of Issele-Azagba in Aniocha North LGA of the state were arrested with the following; one (1) locally made double barrel Pistol with two live cartridges concealed in a bag, one (1) techno phone, one (1) Infinix phone, one (1) OPPO phone, one (1) APPO phone, and the cash sum of (N5,750).
Similarly he said; on September 1, Patrol team attached to Warri Area Command intercepted a suspicious looking boy later identified as Conference Nyerhovwo ‘m’ aged 20, of Jesse town in Ethiope West LGA, Delta State, carrying a bag. The Policemen on patrol subjected the suspect and the bag to a search upon search, one locally made cut-to-size double barrel short gun and four rounds of live cartridges were recovered from the bag.
He was arrested and taken to the Area Command. The police statement noted, that upon investigations, it was revealed that the suspect was on a revenge mission, claiming that some suspected cultists murdered his elder brother named Ovie Nyerhovwo, and further confessed that he contacted his friend who lives in Ghana to tell him where he hid his gun. He was on his way to carry out the act, when the Police intercepted him and recovered the gun. The police are currently Investigating the two cases.
In another development, at about 2130hrs on September, operatives of the command attached to Special Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) raided a black spot at Owa-Oyibo in Ika North East LGA. The raid carried out by the operatives led to the arrest of two drug dealers, one Mrs. Ogala Juliet ‘f’ 42yrs and one Ifeadi Macaulay ‘m’ 26yrs.
The following exhibits were recovered from them, two (2) bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, twenty (20) cans of liquid substances suspected to be “monkey tail”.
According to Edafe, it is the command’s resolve to fight the menace caused by Indian hemp/ controlled drugs dealers, that the Delta State Commissioner of Police has ordered that continuous raids be carried out by DPOs in their area of responsibility, adding that the CP has also admonished the youths to stay away from such substances capable of destroying their lives.
