Police in Delta State on December 13, at Ozoro in Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State, rescued a kidnapped victim, arrested one suspect and recovers a toyota corolla and gun.
The robbers according to a source in the area followed the victim whose name is yet to be given to his residence along Owheologbo road in Ozoro, shot at him and forced him into the boot of his own car before zooming away with him.
According to the source, the DPO in Ozoro received a distress call from an unknown caller that the residence of a man along Owhelogbo road, Ozoro, was being attacked by people suspected to be assailants and shot at the man before giving him into his own car boot taking him away.
When contact, Force Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe while confirming the incident, said the DPO, CSP Ogedengbe Areguamen, upon receiving the information, mobilized and led Police operatives/vigilantes to the area, and other parts that exit Ozoro in a bid to rescue the kidnapped victim, and possibly arrest the suspects.
He said their effort paid off when they sighted a Toyota Corolla car with a registration number that matched the description given by the distress caller. They said in an attempt to intercept them, the suspects abandoned the victim in the boot of the car, disembarked from the vehicle, fired some shot while escaping into a nearby bush.
When he Police operatives relentlessly went after them, and successfully neutralized one of the suspects while three other escaped. The kidnapped victim was rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment, his vehicle, one locally made cut-to-size double barrel gun were recovered, and effort to arrest the fleeing suspects is ongoing.
The Delta Commissioner of Police CP Ari Muhammed Ali, while commending the effort of the DPO Ozoro and his men, also appreciated the goodwill of members of the public for always giving useful and timely information to the police in the state. He also encouraged Deltans to continue to partner with the police in the fight against crime and criminality.
