“As claimed by the said Joseph Obi that they had written severally to the Government of Delta State through the Ministry of Lands, I have as well been going to defend the land, in fact with the family that sold it to me. The Ministry of Land has said times without number that I never built on the road nor blocked the waterways.
His action according to the statement, drew suspicion and the operatives went after him, and the suspect on noticing that the Policemen were closing up on him, abandoned the said bag and escaped into a nearby river. But upon searching the bag, one locally made cut-to-size double barrel gun and one locally made short gun were recovered. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspect.

The statement further read; “For the purpose of clarity, the Delta State Commissioner of Police CP Ari Muhammed Ali, has declared that there is no “sit at home order” in Delta State. He assured residents of their safety and urges them to go about their lawful businesses as the Command is willing and able to deal decisively with anyone or group of persons who try to cause any form of trouble in the State.

According to Ifeajika, the letter from Akume to the Governor stated that “ I have the honour to formally inform you that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, has approved the conferment of the National Honour on you, in the rank of CON (Commander of the Order of the Niger)’’.

Addressing the staff and pupils on his mission to the school, Hon. Umukoro said his desire to embark on donating the books to pupils is borne out of the fact that education is the bedrock of any nation and as such, he felt no child should be denied the opportunity of acquiring sound education just because of his or her parental background. He however urged the pupils to be good children who will better the society in future, noting that education is a light that can drive away ignorance, timidity and poverty.
