Leadership of the Delta State Councillors forum of the Legislative Arms of the 25 local government councils in the State has promised to remain focused in its drive for excellence and development at the grassroots level.
The seven man executive of the forum, made the promise during their visits to the eight local government councils in Delta Central Senatorial districts in continuation of their familiarization tour of the 25 local government councils in the state.
State Coordinator of the forum and Leader, Warri South West Legislative Arm, Rt Hon Samuel Ekpemupolo, while addressing Councillors across the eight councils, said the core values of the legislature must be upheld at all times, hence the advocacy visits.
Hon Ekpemupolo maintained that the legislature represents the interests, needs, and concerns of the people, urging the Councillors to ensure that such goals are met at the grassroots.
Ekpemupolo on behalf of all the Councillors in Delta State, again congratulated Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for the “Governor of the Year”, award, saying that the forum will continue to mobilize support for his MORE agenda at the grassroots.
The State Coordinator and Leader, Warri South West Legislative Arm, emphasized the need for the various legislative arms to maintain sound synergy with the Council Chairmen and other members of the executive arm of the local government to ensure peace and prosperity in the areas.
Saying that development can not thrive in an atmosphere of chaos and conflicts, Ekpemupolo also appealed to the Chairmen of the Councils to accord the Councillors their due respect and support.
He stressed that with unity of purpose and respect for one another, there would be stability and progress in the various local government areas.
Ekpemupolo assured the Councillors that the forum will continue to advocate for improved welfare packages as the present situation in the country calls for better condition of service.
He also assured the electorate that the forum will be accountable to them as well as ensure transparency and responsibility in governance.
The State Coordinator thanked the Councillors for the warm reception accorded them and charged them to remain optimistic as the future is bright.
Councillors in the eight local government councils in Delta Central, including Ethiope East and West, Okpe, Ughelli North and South, Sapele, Udu and Uvwie, commended the seven member executive of the forum for the familiarization visits.
They said the meetings have provided them the opportunity to interact and share ideas with a view of promoting efficiency in their constitutional duties as Councillors.
Ekpemupolo was accompanied by the Secretary of the forum and Leader Oshimili South, Hon Michael Okonji, the Public Relations Officer and Leader, Isoko South, Olokor Friday Abizire as well as Treasurer and Leader Ethiope East, Emmanuel Emojeya.
Others include the Delta North Coordinator and Leader Ika North East, Dikenwosi Eric, Delta South Coordinator and Leader Warri South, Joy Nomeme Ejumudo and Delta Central Coordinator and Leader Uvwie Legislative Arm, Rire Okejera Uruesheyi.
