Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta Central and former Attorney Generaland Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Peter Mrakpor SAN, has described the chairmanship candidate of the PDP in the Ughelli South Local Government Council election, Hon. Lucky Avweromre, as an experienced, committed, stable, and loyal politician with impeccable character.
The duo made the statement today when the PDP campaign train, led by Olorogun John Oguma, Hon. Festus Utuama, Member of the DTHA Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Lucky Avweromre (PDP’s Chairmanship Candidate for the July 13, 2024 council election), and his vice-chairmanship candidate, Hon. Happiness Umukoro, stormed Jeremi Ward 1 to canvass for votes.
Mrakpor, who is an indigenes of Jeremi Ward 1, in his speeche, told members of his ward that Hon. Avweromre has been a friend who supported his ambition and also worked very hard to ensure that the PDP wins all elections in the state during the last election.
He appealed to the people of Iwhrekan, Edjophe, Otor-Edo, Ughevwughe, Iwhrekreka, and Iwhretabeta, all of Jeremi Ward 1, to vote en masse for Hon. Avweromre and his vice.
Hon. Fovie, an indigene of the ward, also expressed his views, stating that Avweromre is an experienced politician in council administration. Both of them served in the council between 1999 and 2002, with Avweromre as the leader of the Ughelli South Local Government Council Legislative Arm.
Earlier, Olorogun John Oguma, Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Chief Michael Oshetigho, the PDP Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Area, thanked the ward members for the massive crowd that welcomed them.
They assured that the PDP would secure a significant victory on July 13, 2024, as many people have rejected the APC, citing the hardships it has brought upon the populace.
The highlight of the campaign visit was the defection of the President-General of Otor-Edo community, Mr. Kennedy Egole, and members of the community from the APC to the PDP.
Egole, speaking on behalf of the defectors, explained that their decision to join the PDP was influenced by the exceptional leadership styles of Mrakpor and Fovie, whom they described as unparalleled.
They appealed to the PDP leaders not to view them as newcomers or to subject them to victimization but to embrace them as part of the party.
