All may not be well toi with the All Progressives Congress APC, at the moment in Delta State as hundreds of party faithful on Wednesday, November 23, at Agbarha-Otor in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State defected to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
This is just as Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Executive Assistant on Project Monitoring, Christabel Obiuwevbi-Omonigho gave out cash and other items to empower party supporters.
Speaking during the event, Christabel Obiuvwebi-Omonigho said, the items distributed was part of her own way of encouraging party faithful and new members who have come to identify with the party.
In her words, “We are here to celebrate PDP as one family and to receive over a hundred decamped persons from the APC to the PDP family.
Continuing she said; though i am not contesting any elective position, but as an Executive Assistant to the governor on Project monitoring, we were able to taxes ourselves to provide this for our people and this is just the first stage, as we gave cash donations to our people today as part of the dividends of democracy from the Okowa administration.
She urged the people to embrace and vote the PDP and get more dividends of democracy.
The decamped members led by one Happy Idiero, were received by Delta Central Senatorial Candidate of the PDP, Chief Ighoyota Amori, Evang Michael Diden, Delta South Senatorial candidate, Chief Godwin Adode, executive chairman of Ughelli North, Delta State PDP Youth leader, Victor Egbo and Chief Terry Noah.
Chief Amori while receiving the decampees said the PDP remain the last hope of everyone in Delta state, adding that no one should be deceived that there is going to be a party that will take over the government of Delta state.
He boasted that it will never happen and it cannot happen as PDP has been in power since 1999 and 2023 will not be different, adding that the APC taking over the leadership of the country has performed poorly and plunged the country into difficulty and poverty.
He stated that PDP is far ahead of APC in all department of governance as they have failed. Amori said, everyone that left the PDP for APC are willingly to come back, and promised that those that have return to the party will be treated equally.
Those that decamped said they left APC for PDP because of the infrastructural development of the PDP in their communities which they said include roads and market as well as recognition which their former party never gave to them.
