By Truman Whonana,
Yesterday 21st March, 2022; I followed a post in one Urhobo page on the purported endorsement of Sen. Amori by Ibori. Over one hundred comments on the post were seriously against the “endorsement.” One question that came to me was, why are we always recycling old folks and thereby reenforce failure?
We are in a progressive society, remaining static is an invitation to diminish.
WE SHOULD NOTE THAT:
- Sen. Ighoyota Amori first appearance in the senate was truncated by a court of appeal ruling which led to the first emergence of Sen. Omoagege.
2.) The few time Amori spent in the senate was greeted with a flamboyant lifestyle which does not positively have impact on the primary constituents. Thank God for Agege whose first term was an Eye-opener to what representation really is.
- Another effort of Amori to go to the senate was truncated when Evelyn Oboro defeated him at the primary election.
- Amori has been in the system and age is no longer on him.
- Amori is the Chairman of DC23, therefore, he cannot present himself as a king maker and on the long run want to crown himself as a king.
- Going further, we are in a dynamic society with complex issues that requires modern knowledge and energetic young men who are willing to burn the “night candle” doing research in finding lasting solution to societal issues.
- IBORI SHOULD NOTE THAT: He has paid his dues as a one time governor of the state and his influence led to the victory of his successor and the present governor.
- His position in Delta State politics would have been like that of Ahmed Bola Tinubu of Lagos State if not for his political travail.
- IT IS IMPORTANT FOR HIM TO NOTE THAT THE BEST WAY TO SEND A MESSAGE TO THE FUTURE IS TO SEND A CHILD (YOUTH). Therefore, for him to build an enduring political legacy requires that he should add fresh mindset to his political dynasty, those who will make his political prowess transcend the present old folks who surround him.
