…Urges Nigerians To Vote Obi/Datti Come February 25
By Godwin-Maria Utuedoye
A Nigerian US base Professor, Alex O Atawa Akpodiete, on Monday, February 20, during a press briefing held at his country home, Ughelli, Delta State, appealed to Nigerians not to allow politicians with selfish ambitions deceive them into selling their votes for a paltry sum on February 25 during the presidential election, but ensure they vote for the future of Nigeria.
Professor Akpodiete stated that since 1960 when Nigeria gained her independence from Britain, she is suppose to be the giant of Africa with her over two hundred million population, and a GDP that is higher than that of many nations of the world. He lamented that the country is still being faced with poverty and underdevelopment.
He attributed the backwardness of the country to bad leadership, and further argued that Nigeria as a nation, is not lacking natural resources nor human resources, but said, all she lacks is good leadership, and that he said, is what Mr. Peter Obi has come to give to Nigeria if voted in.
“We are supporting Mr. Obi/Datti candidacy because among all the candidates, Obi is the most qualified candidate in terms of age, competence, vision and ideas”.Â
He urged Nigerians to vote for the betterment of the future, noting that from 2015 till date, nothing has been added to the life of the average Nigeria, appealing that the February 25th election should not be based on ethnicity, religion or party, but voting for only the right person, which is Obi/Datti.
On whether Mr. Peter Obi has the support of the Southeast, Professor Akpodiete said, yes, that the entire Southeast region is behind Mr. Peter Obi, irrespective of their political parties.
” I am not a member of the Labour Party, but I am supporting Peter Obi because I need good leadership that can better the future of my country Nigeria.Â
“When people talked about Peter Obi not having structure, I told them that it does not mean, Obi must have chairmen in all the 36 states and the 774 local government areas. His structures are those who are interested in his cause to take Nigeria back on the right path and also vote for him, wait to see that their vote is counted. These are his structures, he noted”.
“I am appealing to all Nigerians to ensure they get their PVC’s, cast their vote for Mr. Peter Obi, stay away in a distance of 300 metres from the polling units and wait for their votes to be counted and result announced before living”. He also appealed for calmness and violent free elections come February 25th.
