Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated a former Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Dame Nkem Okwuofu, on her 74th birth.
Governor Oborevwori, in a statement released in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, praised the nurse-turned-politician for her devotion, loyalty and commitment to the unity and growth of the state and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor expressed joy that Okwuofu, a PDP leader and member of the National Executive Committee of the party, has continued to be a pillar of strength and support for the state’s growth despite her advanced age.
He celebrated the remarkable life of service of the amazon, commonly referred to in political circles as Agwunwanyi, along with family, friends, and colleagues.
The Governor extolled Okwuofu as a capable leader, diligent administrator and trustworthy patriot whose priceless contributions, especially to Delta and its people, would live on forever.
Oborevwori said: “On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta, it is with profound joy that I congratulate you, our dear mother and leader, Dame Nkem Okwuofu, as you celebrate your 74th birth anniversary.
“Having entered politics decades ago, you have been a respected mother and septugenarian, having made significant contributions as an accomplished nurse and, later, as a commissioner in multiple ministries.
“As a result of your humility and dedication to service, our party, the PDP, has won multiple elections in the state as well as in your own Aniocha North Local Government Area.
‘’The Obomkpa Ukwu-Nzu Road and the erosion control projects surrounding it are only two examples of the numerous infrastructure projects you have drawn to your community and helped it grow and prosper.
“I join your family in celebrating your 74th birthday and in thanking Almighty God for all of His blessings, protection, and direction. I also pray for continued good health and many more years of increasing service to God and humanity”.
