Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of has reassured Deltans of closeness to all irrespective of class and status despite his astronomic rise in politics that offshoot him to the position of Governor.
Chief Oborevwori gave this assurance on Monday, June 19, during his inauguration and 60th birthday anniversary thanksgiving service held at the Living Faith Church Ibusa-Asaba which was later followed by a reception ceremony.
Oborevwori noted the importance of the grassroots people in his political journey and assured everyone that it would continue without interruption.
In his address, he expressed his gratitude to those in attendance, recognizing the value of their presence. He acknowledged his ongoing efforts to adapt to the role of a governor.
Acknowledging that his familiarity and bond with the grassroots would persist.
The Governor also expressed appreciation to God during the church service for His goodness, faithfulness, sustaining grace, and blessings in his life.
His celebration had a two-fold purpose: to give glory to God for his successful inauguration as Governor of Delta State and to express gratitude for reaching the milestone of his 60th birthday.
Reflecting on his entry into politics, Oborevwori revealed that his initial ambition did not include becoming a governor. Instead, his motivation stemmed from a desire to contribute to the growth and development of the state and country.
However, through divine orchestration, he served as the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly in the 6th and 7th Assemblies, eventually assuming the role of Governor. He credited his journey and current position solely to the grace of God.
Oborevwori recognized God’s presence and guidance throughout his life, even during periods of unbelief and disobedience. He acknowledged the importance of consciously and intentionally engaging in spiritual activities to honor God, especially as reaching the age of 60 is not a common occurrence.
The Governor expressed his gratitude to Bishop David Oyedepo, his spiritual father, for his special birthday message and years of guidance. He also extended his thanks to his predecessors, political leaders, and stakeholders for their support in his journey to becoming Governor.

Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, commended Governor Oborevwori and expressed his delight in joining hands across the Niger. He highlighted the potential for great business opportunities between the twin cities of Onitsha and Asaba, connected by the Niger Bridge.
Representatives of the Governors of Edo, Bayelsa, and Oyo States paid tribute to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on his birthday, expressing their congratulations and well-wishes.
During the thanksgiving service, Pastor Triumphant Obamoh delivered a sermon titled “Gratitude for Greater Altitude.” He emphasized the role of God’s help behind every success and cautioned against ingratitude, which can sever the source of grace and greatness.
The event was graced by various dignitaries, including Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, the Deputy Governors of Edo and Bayelsa States, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, former Governors of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru as well as other political figures, religious leaders, and traditional rulers.
