Delta State Governor and Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, today, Sunday, visited the families of the police officers killed by gunmen in Anambra state.
The deceased officers – Inspectors Lucky Aleh, Celestine Nwadiokwu and Jude Obuh, who were attached to the Explosives Ordinances Disposal Unit of the Government House, Asaba, met their untimely death on Friday in the hands of unknown gunmen who ambushed them on the Ihiala-Orlu road, in Anambra state, on their way to Umuahia on an official duty.
The Governor visited the homes of Aleh and Obuh at Agbor Obi and Orogodo-Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area, and Owa Ekei in Ika North-East, where Nwadiokwu hailed from and commiserated with their widows, Mrs Nwamaka Aleh, Mrs Juliet Obuh and Mrs Onyeisi Nwadiokwu and family members.
He prayed for the bereaved families and asked them to take solace in the fact that the deceased died in active service for the nation, while assuring that the state government would continue to identify with them through the trying times.
The Governor was accompanied by the member representing the Ika Federal Constituency, Hon Victor Nwokolo; member representing Ika South in the State House of Assembly, Hon Festus Okoh and his Ika North East counterpart, Hon Anthony Elekeokwuri; Commissioner for Works, Mr Noel Omodon, his Information Counterpart, Mr Charles Aniagwu and other top government functionaries.
