The chairman of the committee for the Okuama Internally Displaced Persons IDP at Ewu-Urhobo, Mr. Abraham Ogbodo today, May 31, slumped at the camp immediately after receiving food donations from the Neo Black Movement of Africa and worldwide NBM.
The group had donated food items worth millions of Naira as palliative and handed a cheque of Two Million Naira to the camp for the upkeep of members of Ewu-Okuama Internally Displaced Persons to compliment the efforts of Delta State Government in addressing the fall out of Okuama crisis.
But moment after the donations, if not for the quick intervention of medics and people around, the former Guardian Editor who is the director and chairman of the IDP camp would have been dead as his Blood Pressure (BP) was said to have risen after a cow presented by the NBM had threatened to loose its anger on the people.
According to sources, immediately after the NBM came to the camp to donate relief materials including a live cow to the IDPs, Mr. Ogbodo looking at the cow told some of the committee that the cow could become aggressive if water and food is not given to it, but moment later, the cow made an attempt to kick the Director who was standing close to were the cow was tied, and that an attempt for him to run for his dear life made him slumped.
The source added that for the quick intervention of some medics present in the camp, the camp director could have passed as his BP was said to have risen.
Though it could not be ascertain how Mr. Ogbodo is fairing at the moment, but, sources said his health condition was stable before living the camp.
