…Hails Oborevwori For Inaugurating Committee For Okuoma IDPs
A front line chairmanship aspirant in the forthcoming local government elections in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Hon. Anthony Isikuru, has commended the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the three Delta senators for facilitating the release of HRM, Clement Ikolo, the Ewu monarch who was declared wanted by the army over the killing of 17 military officers at Okuoma on March 14, 2024.

The Ewu monarch upon being declared wanted summited himself to the Delta state Police command who handed over to the military before he was transfered to the army headquarters in Abuja.

Isikuru who expressed gratitude over the release of the monarch, in a statement, noted that the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, played a very vital role in facilitating the royal fathers’ release, stating that it is a testament of the governors commitment in working for all Deltans as enshrines in the MORE Agenda of the governor.

“I want to congratulate my king on his release from the custody of the military and as well thank all Urhobo sons and daughters that really expressed concerns over the Okuoma/Okoloba crisis. It is a sign that an injury to one is an injury to all”.

He added that the governor has displayed his leadership prowess especially for not relenting in finding a lasting solution to the crisis and for also brokering peace with the military to allow safe return of the indigene back to their home.

“Since the day the soldiers were gruesomely murdered, his excellency has not had sleep, likewise other notable Deltans and politicians who irrespective of party affiliations had work for the interest of the people. Truly they deserves our commendation”.Â

“I want to sincerely thanked both the Delta Central, Delta South and Delta North Senators for their oneness, unity and firmness. It shows that no matter the party one belong, the interest of the people is sacrosanct and supercede the interest of any individual.

Delta State Governor for inaugurating the IDPs management committee for the displaced people of Okuama community.

Recalled that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday, inaugurated the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Management Committee.
Â
The Committee has the former Editor of The Guardian Newspaper, Mr Abraham Ogbodo as Chairman and Director of Personnel Management, DPM, Ughelli South Local Government Council, Chief Austin Emaduku as Secretary.

Other members include; Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Hon. Festus Utuama, Hon. Reuben Izeze, Dr Richard Kofi, Chief Oviri Uto, Hon. Josephine Oduaran, Obukohwo Henry Ediyo, Karo Ovemeso and Austin Ohwofaria who will serve as Camp Commandant.

He urged the newly inaugurated committee members to work diligently in ensuring that the needs of the IDPs are met and that they are able to successfully integrate back into their community.

Isikuru further expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by Governor in inaugurating the committee which he said will usher in peace and rendered huge assistance to the Okuoma community. He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in addressing issues and creating a better future for all Deltans.
