Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, Delta South Senatorial candidate for the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. Joel Onowakpo and member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr. Alex Edeh, have recently presented cash and relief materials to flood victims in Patani Local Government area of Delta State on behalf of APC Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmad Tinubu.
According to Orubebe who led the team, a total sum of N50 million have been released by Tinubu to be disbursed to flood victims across the state, and would be shared accordingly.
He also announced a donation of N150 million worth of relief materials to the victims by the Deputy President of the Senate and APC gubernatorial candidate in the state, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
Speaking at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Patani, Orubebe explained that the APC Presidential flag bearer could not make it to the camp to meet with them personally due to striking aviation workers across the country, but has expressed his deep felt concerns for their welfare.
He said, “You know today our Presidential flag bearer was scheduled to be here but due to challenges in the aviation industry, he couldn’t make it. So he ask me and this support team to come and represent him here and to identify with the people.
“He asked us to give the people N50 million and this money will be shared among all the IDP camps in Delta state. And secondly, our governorship candidate, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege also sent N150 million worth of goods, food items, building materials and all things that have to do with life and will be distributed next week. They are people that have human feelings and they have people in their heart, that’s why they sent us here.
Speaking further Orubebe said they would report their assessment of the situation back to the Federal Government, and assured that needed pressure would be mount on them to ensure that the East West road was put to full use within the shortest possible time.
The Director General of the APC campaign organisation in Delta state, also accused the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) led administration in the state of wasteful management of the state’s resources.
“Today, by our records, this state government have received almost three trillion naira from federal government and what we see on ground cannot be compared to the amount that have received, there is nothing on ground. I want to say to Deltans that this eight years of Okowa administration is a waste”, he stated.
He added, “we want to take Delta to it’s original state and bring back it’s lost glory. Delta used to be the number state in the country in everything but today it’s different. We have a man with vision, a man with human heart and I am calling on all Deltans to come along with us and vote APC.
Also addressing the IDPs, Delta South Senatorial candidate, Dr. Joel Onowakpo, announced the donation of medical equipments and free treatment to the victims to help carter for their medical needs while in the camp.
The Ijaw breed politician who addressed them in Ijaw language assured the Ijaw nation of their due place and entitlement if voted into office as the Senator to represent Delta South Senatorial District.
