Leaders and stakeholders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta South Senatorial District of Delta State have passed votes of implicit confidence on the state’s Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The party leaders, at a crucial meeting held in Warri, on Sunday, said the vote of confidence on the governor stemmed from the giant developmental strides recorded in the nooks and crannies of the state within the first one year of his administration.

The Leaders, including elected and appointed public officers at the state and federal government levels acknowledged the uncommon transformation of the state in all facets by Oborevwori within the short period of one year of his administration.

They described the developmental initiatives of Oborevwori administration in the state as unprecedented.

Member, representing Bomadi State Constituency in state’s House of Assembly, Hon. Preyor Oboro, moved the motion for the passage of the votes of confidence on the governor in appreciation and acknowledgement of the all round development of the state as espoused in his M.O.R.E AGENDA development blueprints.

The motion was seconded by a frontline Isoko leader and a former President of the Isoko Development Union (IDU), Chief Iduh Amadhe.

The motion received thunderous support and backing of all party leaders and stakeholders drawn from the eight local government areas of the senatorial district.

Hon. Preyor in moving the motion eulogised the sterling leadership qualities of Governor Oborevwori and his people-oriented policies and programmes, which he said had set the state on the path of sustainable development.

Hon. Preyor enumerated few of the development initiatives of Governor Oborevwori, which he admitted have endeared him to all Deltans.

Specifically he listed the award of some strategic road projects and fly-overs in Warri and Effurun as well as some ongoing development projects in every parts of state, including the coastal axis of the state as some of the achievements of the governor within one year in office.

The lawmaker assured that Delta South Senatorial District as the bedrock of the PDP in the state remained the solid base for the ruling party and Governor Oborevwori for his re-election bid in 2027.

Hon.Preyor said Governor Oborevwori’s unprecedented record of performance had made his re-election in 2027 a fait accompli.
In moving the motion, Hon. Preyor added, “For the unprecedented and uncommon development strides of our amiable governor in the nooks and crannies of the state, which have been widely acknowledged by all right thinking and reasonable Deltans, I hereby move a motion for an implicit vote of confidence on His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori , our indefatigable and performing governor.”

The motion was unanimously adopted.

Leaders and stakeholders present at the ceremony were former Governor Emmanuel Udughan; the immediate past Deputy Governor, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro; Speaker of the state’s Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor;Â Senator James Manager, former Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Roland Oritsejafor;Â Leader of the Southern Caucus in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Nicholas Mutu.

Others include Member, representing Warri Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi; Hon. Michael Diden; Chief Askia Ogie; Deputy Chairman of the party at the state level, Barrister Val Areyimka; Delta South Senatorial District Chairman of the party, Dr. Julius Takeme; past and present members of the state executive council and state’s House of Assembly, and past local government chairmen, among other eminent party leaders and stakeholders from the district.

Various speakers at the forum, especially Udughan, Otuaro, Manager, Ereyitomi, praised Governor Oborevwori for the faithful implementation of his M.O.R.E. agenda designed for the development of the entire 25 local government areas of the state.

They expressed the support of the district for the ruling party and Governor Oborevwori in all future elections, particularly in his re-election in 2027.

Earlier in his speech, Governor Oborevwori thanked leaders, stakeholders and teeming supporters of PDP in the district for their tremendous support for the party.

 He particularly expressed appreciation to them over his resounding victory in the gubernatorial election in the eight local government areas in the district in the 2023 general election.

Governor Oborevwori urged the people of the district to remain steadfast with PDP, adding that no section of the state would be marginalised in human capacity development and distribution and provision of infrastructures.

He acknowledged generous accolades by party chieftains in appreciation of his performance and promised “to do more.”

Governor Oborevwori urged all aggrieved party members, especially those uncomfortable with the party’s decisions over nominations of candidates in the forthcoming local government elections to be patient, assuring them that “good tidings are in the offing for every party member.”
