Ughelli South LGA has been peaceful as voters cast their votes without any form of interference, tension or fear.
Voting exercise commenced at about 8:49am with accreditation of voters and thereafter, normal voting commenced simultaneously with eagerness and willingness for individuals to vote for their choice candidates.
Notable voters in unit 11, include the the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Richard Kofi who adjudged the exercise to be free, fair and credible.
In his words; “Ughelli South is a peaceful place and I have gone round all the polling units and everywhere is peaceful”.
Also speaking, Hon. Sir Taleb Tebite who also voted at the Unit 11, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission. INEC, for adequate coordination and early distribution of materials to the different units.
He also commend the functionality of the BVAS and the accurate materials brought to the unit.
He appealed to all eligible voters to comport themselves in an orderly manners and vote in their conscience as no one will be coerced to vote against his or her choice
He was however optimistic of victory for his party the PDP, stating that he will not compare anyone to vote against his or her conscience.
On his part, a House of Assembly Candidate under the Labour party, Joshua Omorere, who spoke to newsmen, appreciated the calmness and orderliness of voters and also adjudged the voting process to be free, fair and credible.
At Olomu Ward 1 and 2, the situation was peaceful as eligible voters was seen in queue waiting for their turn to be accredited and exercise their franchise.
Prince Hon. Sony Jifas also commended the peaceful nature of the exercise at the unit 2, Olomu Ward 1, and called on the electorate to conduct themselves in a manner devoid of violence and quarrel irrespective of political differences, adding that, no ones ambition is worth the life or blood of anyone.
